We are pleased to announce that the Norwood Park Fire Protection District will now be offering a new safety product, available to our residents. It is called the Knox HomeBox, and it provides our first responders controlled access to residential homes in case of an emergency. It is a single key vault that provides homeowners the same secure rapid access system we use on our commercial properties at around half the price of a traditional Knox Box. Norwood Park Fire Department (on-duty personnel) will have exclusive access to the safe containing the residential key.
We are recommending the Knox HomeBox to our residents who are elderly (and may need to be checked on) or residents who may be physically unable to open their door in an emergency. This prevents fire department personnel from damaging doors and windows in attempts to gain access.
Knox offers several different colors and mounting options for aesthetic purposes.
Information about purchasing a Knox Box is available on our Norwood Park Fire Department website and our Facebook page.
Thank you and Kind Regards,
Fire Chief David C. Blondell
